Spoon is a service for Windows users that allows them to “deliver desktop apps instantly, anywhere” via the cloud. They contacted MetaLab to redesign their site, which is an ongoing project. I’m tackling the design, with the help of art direction from Sara White, and creative direction from Brandon Velestuk.
Thanks for stopping by the portfolio. Here you can see the design & development I've done lately.
United Pixelworkers Tee
United Pixelworkers got in touch to see if I would design a tee for them as part of their guest designer series (now retired). I’ve long thought there needs to be an official uniform for night owls, so I designed one!
Keen
Keen is a service for print shops who want to manage their business online using their all-inclusive, well designed web app. They contacted MetaLab to design over 100 screens for the app, along with a marketing site to advertise it. I was responsible for the design, and given art direction from Sara White, and creative direction from Brandon Velestuk.
Pandagram
Pandagram is a free, simple Instagram viewer for iPad. Jason and Larry decided to build it for fun, and I decided to design them a sweet little panda icon, also for fun.
Space Traveler Theme
The Space Traveler theme is the second theme I’ve done for Pixel Union. This theme is meant to be used for travel blogs, and is inspired by Jason’s love of Space, and my love of old map engravings. It’s available in the theme store for only $49!
Creative in Austria
Creative in Austria is a small development shop that builds beautiful and useful software for Mac and iOS platforms. I designed their marketing site, which included product pages for Stocks and Letter Opener.
Biz and Livia Stone
When Biz Stone (famous for starting that one site you may have heard of) got in touch to design a simple site for the foundation he started with his wife, I was thrilled. It’s not often you get to work with an internet legend on a project for good. I handled the design, markup, and Wordpress integration for The Biz and Livia Stone Foundation.
H.J. Mews
When Andrew Wilkinson asked me to design a side project of his, I was excited. When he told me it would be “the world’s foremost purveyor of cat furniture, toys, and accessories for the discerning feline”, I was ecstatic. Especially once I saw that gorgeous logo by Jessica Hische. H.J. Mews was designed and coded in Shopify by yours truly.
The fine folks at Twitter and I worked together on a side project of theirs called hope140. The site was launched with the goal to use Twitter for good, and was designed by the fantastic Mark Otto. I came on board to help Mark and the team with a design for the hope140 blog, as well as a page for their World Literacy Day cause. The designs were built off the foundation laid by Mark; I was also responsible for doing markup for the pages, and building the wordpress template for the blog.
Pictory
I was honored to be one of the guest designers for Pictory Mag, “an online photojournalism magazine that documents love, loss, family, travel, and our lives and culture in big pictures.”
Nautical Tumblr Theme
The awesome guys at Pixel Union got in touch to see if I could put a Tumblr theme. Inspired by my setting in Salem, Massachusetts, I went for something with a nautical / colonial feel. Here’s something super cool: Zooey Deschanel uses it! It can be yours too for only $49!
Crush + Lovely
The fantastic folks at Crush + Lovely brought me on board for the redesign of their site. Art direction by Nathan Helene and photography by Paul Octavious.
Stomp.io
This is a mockup I did for a small startup called Stomp.io, which provides users with fun ideas for stuff to do in their area.
Art in my Coffee
Art in my Coffee is a curated collection of coffee art, created by myself and my co-blogger Jina Bolton. Since we are both avid coffee enthusiasts, this site was a fun way for us to bring addiction and art together.
Internet Garage Sale
From the site, Internet Garage Sale is “a matchmaking service for people who are selling things and people interested in buying them.”
Clients From Hell
The Clients from Hell Store design.
In their own words, Clients from Hell is “a collection of anonymously contributed client horror stories from designers.”
Campaign Monitor
One of five templates created for Campaign Monitor
Campaign Monitor is a fantastic service for maintaining email campaigns, and a great resource for the designers who create them. I was thrilled when they asked me to create five templates for their designer template gallery.
Marvel
This is a blog template I created for a friend. The project didn’t pan out in the end, but it was still a fun, cloud-tastic project.
SRC
From their site: “Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) is the world’s leading technology research consortium.”
LexBlog
The LexBlog homepage.
LexBlog deserves a lot of credit for helping to make the world of lawyer websites a better place. They contacted me about designing and developing several templates for these blogs, which run on the Moveable Type CMS.
Change.org
A change.org cause page mockup
I was ecstatic when longtime design heroes Airbag Industries, now Happy Cog West, asked if I could help them out with a series of designs for Change.org. The project was this: design and develop several pages with a similar layout and structure, but with a style reflective of the cause they feature.
DealBase
Dealbase is a travel site that, in their words, “has the best hotel deals with tons of unadvertised sales and offers you won’t find anywhere else.” I was brought in on this project after working with the team at Your24, and provided design, web development, and rails integration.
Make Film Work
Make Film Work homepage.
Make Film Work is the site of a sexy, super talented videographer / programmer / creative extraordinaire named Jason Hawkins. (Who also happens to be my boyfriend.) I decided to help the boy out by creating an illustration, site design, markup, and wordpress integration for him.
TED Fellows
When friend, ex-coworker, and TED Fellow Erik Hersman asked if I’d whip up a quick Posterous blog for the TED Fellows, I was happy to oblige!
14trips
I worked with Halogen Guides to update the design and markup for the 14trips site. Based largely on the gorgeous design done by SimpleBits, I adapted the original layout to reflect changes in the priorities of the site.
